Ayodeji Islam Balogun, born July 16, 1990, is a Nigerian music star who is also known as Wizkid or Starboy. Because of his contribution to the growth of African music culture over the years, he is one the most important Afrobeats artists on the continent. Wizkid was previously known as Lil Prince. He became a national sensation with the release of Holly At Your Boy. This single was the lead single from his debut album, Superstar. You can also refer to him as Big WIZ or Machala.

Early life
Wizkid was born to Mr. Ibrahim Bulogun (father), and Mrs. Jane Dolapo Bologun [mother] on the 16th of July 1990. His parents were inter-faith, with his father practicing Islam and his mother following the Christian faith. His parents named him Ayodeji Balogun.
He is a native of Ogun State, South West Nigeria. He comes from a large family, as he has 12 siblings who are all women. He was raised in a multi-gamous family in Surulere City, Lagos State. His father is a married man to three wives.
He co-founded the Glorious 5 music group at the age of 11. They released an album, before he left to pursue solo career opportunities. He went by the stage name Lil Grundz during this time. Listening to music legends such as Fela Aknikulapo Kuti and Bob Marley, Lucky Dube and Sunny Ade fueled his interest in music.

Wizkid was born to a wealthy family that allowed him to attend top private schools in Surulere.
He was admitted to Lagos State University, but he dropped out in 2009. Later, he applied to Lead City University in Ibadan and was granted admission. He managed to complete two academic sessions before withdrawing to face the music.
The Baloguns did not spare any expense to provide their son with a high-quality education. Wizkid went to top private schools in Surulere, for both his primary and second school education.
After receiving his West African School Certificate, the student was admitted to Lagos State University. He dropped out of the university after that.
Career
Wizkid signed a record agreement with Empire Mates Entertainment in 2009. This was managed and owned by BankyW. His songwriting skills were first exposed to the public when he co-wrote Omoge you Too Much. This was one of the songs on Banky W‘s album The W Experience. He also began recording Superstar that year and released his lead single Holla at Your Boy on January 2, 2010. The song became a huge hit and earned him The Next Rated Artist award from The Headies in 2011.
The second single from the album, Tease me/Bad Guys was released in the public domain on April 2, 2010. The project’s third single, Don’t Dull was released on December 6th 2010. After two years of recording the project and compiling it, Superstar was finally released on June 12, 2011. It is a blend of Afrobeats and Reggae and was launched at Eko Hotel and suites. The album received numerous nominations and was awarded the Best Album of the Year award at the 2012 Nigerian Entertainment Awards.
